By Bob Sandrick, special to cleveland.com

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio -- A political newcomer who ran unsuccessfully in her first campaign for North Royalton City Council two years ago fared better this time around.

On Nov. 2, Dawn Carbone-McDonald, 53, of Bennett Road unseated incumbent Vincent Weimer from the Ward 5 council chair. She told cleveland.com Monday (Nov. 8) that she’s ready to get to work.

“Like many other cities in the area, North Royalton needs to put forth a solid game plan to address its aging infrastructure matters and correct stormwater issues,” Carbone-McDonald said.

According to final, unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, Carbone-McDonald defeated Weimer by a vote of 518 to 432. She captured 55 percent of the total votes.
